U14 Girls Lose Out in County Final

The U14 ladies year drew to a conclusion yesterday evening (Saturday) in Galbally when they fell on the wrong side of a tight Championship final against Clonoe. The girls fought hard in the first half into a strong wind and went in after 30 minutes trailing by 2 points on a score of 1-1 to 2 points. The strong wind aided the Clonoe defence. However, but for some wayward passing Cappagh could have had more scores on the board as they dominated possession.
A resilient skilful core kept Clonoe pushing forward and in the second half they opened the gap to 6 points leading 2-2 to 2 points. Cappagh, not wanting to lose without effort, really upped their performance from here to the end and scored a great goal to close the gap to three points. The forwards started to click and they began to open up the Clonoe defence. Tough Clonoe defending with all bodies behind the ball kept Cappagh at bay. They won a few frees out of range. Another point closed the gap to two and the final whistle blew to close the under 14 season.
