Commiserations to our U16 boys who were defeated by Carrickmore in the grade one championship semi-final on Saturday morning. For much of the game it looked like we were going to emerge victorious but Carrickmore finished strongly and we failed to hold on – a hard lesson but much to be positive about.
Hard luck to our U13 girls who were defeated in their county semi-final in Garvaghey also on Saturday morning.
Well done to our Scór na nÓg participants who competed in the county semi-final on Friday night in Dún Uladh. We will be well-represented in the county final in St. Joseph’s Hall in a few weeks’ time.
We are delighted to announce that we will kick start our new season of our Cappagh All Stars this Saturday, 25th October, from 10:00 to 11:00am. New attendees more than welcome.

Sincere sympathy to the family circle of the late Brendan Kelly, especially to the McFadden connections in our Parish.
Sincere sympathy, also, to the family circle of the late Francis Anthony Conway (Greencastle), especially to the McCullagh’s in our Parish.
Possibly the eldest resident in the Parish passed away last week – Vincent O’Reilly from Richmond Park in his 106th year. The O’Reilly’s can accurately be described as “footballing royalty” in their native County Cavan. Vincent’s father played in goals for the Cavan county team and his brother, Tom, played on the 1947 All-Ireland winning team. However, it was his other brother, the “gallant” John Joe who was probably best known – captaining Cavan to two All-Ireland titles – the 1947 title being the only one in history ever won outside Ireland (the Polo Grounds final). Ironically, unlike Vincent’s long life, Commandant John Joe died aged just 34 after a freak footballing injury. Our sincere sympathy to the O’Reilly clan.
