Our club was thrown into mourning last week with the shocking news of the passing of Stephen Daly (Arvalee Road), husband of Aideen and father of our youth players Shea, Dara, Ronan and Leah. Stephen was a proud Greencastle man and an accomplished footballer, normally lining out at centre-half back and won a Junior Championship with Greencastle in 1992. Married life and fatherhood took him to our Parish, where the Dalys all settled into our club and Stephen and Aideen quickly became actively embedded with us. They were enthusiastic and proud supporters of their children’s performances on our fields. Sitting with Stephen at a match was a lovely experience – he really was a lovely, easy-going and modest big fella. The speed of his ill-health taking over was truly shocking and his untimely passing is impossible to comprehend. Our thoughts and prayers remain with them all at this time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Sincere sympathy, also, to the family circle of the late Christy Flanagan (Ederney), father of our former senior footballer, Tomas.
