Well done to everyone involved in our Santa Sunday in Dún Uladh last weekend – the smiles on children’s faces would indicate it was a great success.

The club were greatly saddened to learn of the death our former player, Eamon Meenan. After the revival of our club in 1965, our inaugural adult team was described memorably by Brendan Harkin as, “the common denominator was a pride in wearing the Killyclogher jersey; the underlying principle was a determination to succeed… and (with) their determination they set a precedent and raised a standard against which all subsequent Killyclogher teams should be gauged.” No-one epitomised and personified these qualities and standards more than Eamon Meenan. Eamon holds the honour of being the first player from the revived Killyclogher club to play for the Tyrone Senior footballers, as well as having played for the Tyrone Minors. A tall, strong and stylish footballer, a youthful Eamon, just out of juvenile football, was fast-tracked into our first adult team in that first year of 1965. He was to the forefront of our successes in those early days resulting in reaching a junior league final in 1967, a junior league title and McElduff Cup title in 1968 and narrowly losing the junior championship final the same year, intermediate championship finalists in 1973, double junior league and championship titles in 1977 and intermediate league winners in 1978 and 1979, which brought us our first appearance in the senior ranks. As was common at the time, emigratory spells in America meant the club losing the talents of Eamon at times – Killyclogher’s loss was Philadelphia’s gain. Eamon remained a strong supporter of our teams and the club throughout his life. An unbroken connection with our club sees grandchildren currently represent us on the field – a source of huge pride to Eamon. He will be remembered as a thoroughly good and modest man. Our sincerest condolences to the entire family.

Nollaig Shona agus Athbhliain faoi Mhaise Daoibh – Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all our members and supporters.
