Our Parish, our GAA club, the Cappagh/Badoney branch and the Ulster Council of CCÉ and the PTAA suffered a severe loss on Saturday with the death of Benny Monaghan. Benny was an enthusiastic promoter of our culture in all of its forms especially music, and was equally enthusiastic about promoting and participating in parish activities. A great family man; a loyal and supportive friend, Benny was a real gentleman. He enhanced the lives of the many who had the privilege of knowing him. His infectious good humour and his beaming smile chased many a cloud. His wisdom, understanding and his cool head solved many a problem and unfanked many a twist. He had a big love for Irish music and travelled to many sessions. As a fiddle player, he could proudly claim to be a graduate of Tommy the Post School of Music. Go ndéanaí Dia trócaire ar a anam.
The Ulster Senior Football league gets underway next weekend. The underage competitions will begin in February.
Congratulations to Sarah Broderick who was part of the U16 Sacred Heart team who won the Ulster Shield during the week.
Well done, also, to Karla Corcoran and Daithi McMullen who played in their first Gael Linn competition in Breacach last weekend.
