Our Seniors secured a play-off place in the All County League yesterday, Saturday, with a 2-12 to 2-07 victory over Galbally at a rainy Ballinamullan.
Forwards Tiernán Cox and Tomás Flanagan were particularly lively in the opening stages with the midfield sector being controlled by Micheál Meenagh, Brendan McCartan and Nathan Donnelly. The physical presence of Barry McAleer was causing plenty of problems for the Galbally defence and a Tomás Flanagan goal on 14 minutes left it 1-04 to 0-00.
A couple of Tiernán Cox points left it 1-06 to 0-03 at half time.
An early goal from Tiernán Cox after half time and a couple more points left us able to cope with the Galbally fight back.
The defence was well marshalled by the likes of Eoin Bradley, Carl Donnelly and Conor McLaughlin with good surging runs from the likes of Declan Leonard.
Scorers on the day:
Tiernán Cox 1-06 (3f), Tomás Flanagan 1-02, Eoin Bradley 0-01, Brendan McCartan 0-01, Cormac McGettigan 0-01, Mark Bradley 0-01 (1f).
