Seniors Get League Off To Winning Start

Killyclogher finished with twelve men away to Cookstown but they still came away with the win on a 0-10 to 1-5 score line. The visitors edged the opening period with Leo Meenan and Mark Bradley supplying points, Owen Mulligan with three scores for the Father Rocks. Bradley and Conal McCann increased the St. Marys advantage and despite losing those three players they fought hard to hold on for a narrow victory.

Killyclogher ended the game in Cookstown with twelve men thanks to three second half dismissals but still managed to record a two point victory. Two of those dismissals came inside the last six minutes with second yellow cards for Emmett McFadden and Declan Leonard. Four excellent frees from Leo Meenan had the St Mary’s men ahead 0-5 to 0-4 at the break despite playing into a very stiff breeze. The Cookstown scores came from Owen Mulligan and Christopher Eastwood. Killyclogher moved further ahead after the break thanks to points from Mark Bradley and Conal McCann. Cookstown got themselves back into it thanks to an Owen Mulligan penalty and could have earned a draw but Raymond Mulgrew turned the ball just over the bar. Final Score – Cookstown 1-5 Killyclogher 0-10.
