Killyclogher 10K – Saturday 24th May 2014

Killyclogher St Mary’s / Cappagh GAA Club have launched their Annual Killyclogher 10K Road Run and 5K Fun Run and Walk.

The popular event, which is now in its fourth year, takes place on Saturday 24th May from the Killyclogher GAA Clubrooms at Drumnakilly Road, Omagh. The organisers, Killyclogher St Mary’s GAC, launched this year’s event this week. Keeping to the old adage of not changing a winning formula once again the same flat course is being used and, once again, the generosity of main sponsors Strathroy, O’Neills and Northern Road Markings with the support of 23 other local sponsors will ensure the best for the day’s event.

The Killyclogher 10K Road Run, together with a 5K Fun Run and Walk, has become one of the most popular in the year’s calendar of Road Runs. An attractive flat course, chipped timing, good stewarding and warm hospitality have ensured that runners keep coming back as well as new runners taking part each year.

Last year’s winner was local Omagh Harriers runner Paul Barbour who came home in a time of 33:24. He was followed home by two Foyle Valley AC runners, Pius McIntyre (34:17) and Chris McGuinness (34:25). Other local Omagh Harrier Stevie Duncan was injured in 2013 and may be back to try and reclaim his title.

In 2013, the Ladies race was won by Lifford AC’s Ann-Marie McGlynn in a time of 35:21 and was followed by Omagh Harrier Julie Butler (38:44) and Clones AC’s Denise Toner (39:17).

There will be T-Shirts for the first 200 entrants. Pre Entries can be downloaded from the Killyclogher GAA website (www.killycloghergaa.com) or can be booked online on the Athletics NI website.

This year Killyclogher GAC hope to continue their association with the local charity “Gina Carrigan Forget Me Not” which has a strong connection with the Club.

Both for those who take their running seriously and for those who run on a more casual basis the good news is that the Killyclogher 10K Road Run goes ahead on Saturday 24th May 2014.

With just 6 weeks to go it is time to register and there is also time to do some practical preparation.
