Well done to everyone who took part in our Cappagh Sunrise Walk last Saturday.

It was a sad weekend for the club on a few fronts. We were greatly saddened to learn of the passing of our former player, chairman, committee member and club trustee, Paddy Quinn. When Paddy moved to Killyclogher, he quickly became an important member of the club; instrumental in our early playing successes in the reformed club and swiftly joining the committee. He then became renowned for his promotion of the small-ball game in the club, taking us right to the top of Tyrone hurling. Paddy was actively involved in the physical development side of the club and at county level, he was a notable referee and referees’ administrator. We offer our sincere condolences to the Quinn family circle.

We were also greatly saddened to learn of the passing to Bridie Connolly, wife our former long-standing committee member, manager and 1960s player, Anthony Connolly. Bridie had a great love of the fundraising and social aspects of our club – her baking skills evident at many of our social occasions and jerseys were always well looked-after under her care. Sincere sympathy to the family circle.

We also ask you to keep in your thoughts and prayers, Chris (Sid) Armstrong (father of our senior ladies’ player, Nena, and our former senior men’s player, Ben) who has sadly suffered a devastating brain injury due to a tragic incident in Poland.
