Better late than never. Our senior men left it late but finally ran out winners over Donaghmore. They will now face Coalisland in the championship quarter-final. This is a repeat of last year’s final. We will be hoping for a better result this time. We struggled at times last Saturday but always looked as if we could make it and sure enough, we did with a burst of scoring in the last ten minutes.
Tomorrow night, Thursday, it is the turn of the U18 boys to take centre stage, when they play Eglish in the Minor County Final at 7:30pm in Healy Park. Our boys have prepared well and are determined to fight hard for the title. They would appreciate a good turn-out of support like we had in Carrickmore last Saturday.
The senior league game against Omagh is scheduled for Sunday at 12:00 noon in Healy Park.
We hosted two ladies’ games last Sunday and a big thank you to all who helped with the smooth running of the games. This Sunday we host the men’s intermediate championship quarter-finals, Galbally v Aghyaran and Pomeroy v Loughmacrory. The first throw-in is at 3:30pm and stewards are asked to be in position from 2:30pm.
We hosted an underage girls’ blitz on Saturday morning and on Sunday our U12 girls performed extremely well at the Moy Tournament reaching the semi-final. So, all in all, it was a very busy weekend for the club but thanks to our willing workers it was very successful.
Well done to club representatives Kailey McCaul, Chloe McCaffrey and Maebh O’Connor who played for Tyrone U13s last weekend in an Ulster U13 Development blitz.
The U16 boys had a good win over Strabane last week in the juvenile league and they have been drawn against Eglish in the championship.
The U16 girls defeated Drumragh last night, Tuesday, and play Moortown next Tuesday.
Well done to our representatives who were involved in the county hurling finals at the weekend. The senior final was a great advertisement for the small-ball game and the numbers involved in the junior final were very encouraging.
