The highly striking and decorative hoardings, the flags and buntings, the beaming smiles on the faces and the one topic of conversation on people’s lips tells us that it is County Senior Football Final time again and that we have a major role play on final-day.
This is a whole club affair – youth footballers, boys and girls, young hurlers and handballers and the schools in our Parish – all part of the title bid and all with a part to play.
It is a whole Parish affair with enthusiastic support from every townland. The strong support at our three Championship games so far helped us in no small way to reach the final.
The generosity of our business people is truly amazing. Then there is the dedication of the workers in the background erecting bunting, flags and hoardings but generally decorating the place and letting everyone know that we are proud of our players not forgetting the warm hospitality and the welcome cups of tea. There is also the work of the special activity groups in organising the programme and the Big Breakfast.
Come and join the pre-match hype and build-up to the County Final this Sunday with our Big Breakfast in Dún Uladh between 10:00am and 12:00 noon.
As for our senior footballers we can say that with the guidance and direction of our management team they have given their all to meet the Championship challenge. No stone has been left unturned, nothing has been left undone in the quest for the O’Neill Cup. So far it has paid dividends. So, what is going to happen on Sunday? We’ll just keep that to ourselves. Coill an Chlochair abú.
