Club Notes: November 4th

Winning numbers in the Lottsodoo were 7, 15, 22, 28, 30 and Hugh McAleer and Des McAnallen each won £50. The main jackpot stays at £5,000 for next week’s draw which takes place as usual at the Bingo in the Parish Centre on Monday night.
Last Saturday, we hosted the Ulster Final of the Ladies Club Senior competition. Our new media tower was in operation for the first time although it still requires some finishing internal work. The visiting media personnel were very impressed and broadcaster and television journalist Jerome Quinn was high in his praises. The players and supporters for Monaghan and Donegal were complimentary about the quality of our facilities.
This weekend, we have a double fixture; the Ulster Ladies Intermediate and Junior Club Finals on Sunday. Stewards should be in position from 12:00 noon. Thank you to all who helped stage last Saturday’s Final.
Our own U16 Ladies will be in Championship action on Friday night when they take on Glenelly in Strabane at 7:30pm. We wish them well and they would appreciate a big support.
Just one week to go (Oh no there isn’t) to pantomime time. After weeks of preparation, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will be staged in Dún Uladh tomorrow night week, Thursday 12th November, with literally a cast of 100. Tickets on sale in the Parish Centre following 7:30pm Mass on Saturday and after 9:00 and 11:00am Masses on Sunday, and in Dún Uladh Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday next week from 7:00 to 8:00pm. Patrons should note that all seats are numbered.
We wish our Céilí Dancers all the best in the Scór na nÓg Final on Sunday in Killeeshil.
The final week of Gaelic Start takes place in the Parish Centre on Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:00am.
There will be a Club Committee Meeting tomorrow night, Thursday, at 8:30pm to tidy up the affairs of 2015 and to prepare for the AGM.
Sincere sympathy to the family circle of the late Johnny Haughey. When our Club was revived in 1965 Johnny became a regular member of the defence. He played in an era when each defender had his own area of the field to control. We could say that when Johnny patrolled a certain area it was well patrolled. There wouldn’t really have been much left for another player to sweep. Johnny wasn’t only a sound reliable defender, he was also a sound reliable person. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
