Club Notes: January 14th

We were stunned and saddened by the death of Joan Lowry. Even though she had been in poor health for most of the past year, death is not something you would associate with someone as active and busy as Joan.
She was a loyal member of our club and a dedicated worker for it. If there was a job to be done Joan didn’t talk about it, she did it. So it was that in her beloved Ballinamullan you could see her parking cars, working in the turn-styles, selling lotto, operating the scoreboard or making tea. Everything done well and without fuss.
Social events or major fundraising activities were all enthusiastically promoted by Joan. If we were a worker short in some area Joan would step into the breach. Every team had her support, youth and adult, hurling and football, men and ladies, as did the handball and the Scór.
Sincere sympathy to Michael and the entire family circle.
Joan was so proud of our Club. Let us go forward together continuing to make our Club one she would be still proud of, beginning with the indoor hurling this Friday night, the hurling blitz on Saturday and the bingo and lotto on Monday night. Joan was always quick to give praise and credit for a job well done. She equally wasn’t slow to let you know if it could have, and should have, been done better.
