Club Notes: May 23rd

Winning numbers in the Lottsodoo were 4, 5, 13, 16, 26 and Rosemary McCusker won £100.The main jackpot stays at £5000 for next week’s draw which takes place as usual at the Bingo in the Parish Centre on Monday night.
Last Saturday’s 10K Run and 5K Run and Walk turned out to be a runaway success with well in excess of 400 runners and walkers. The enthusiasm and drive of our main organisers, Patrick McCrory and Sean O’Kane, kept everyone working in the weeks leading up to the event. We benefitted greatly from the expertise of Michael Ward and Martin McLaughlin and from practical advice and help from Omagh Harriers. A big thank you to all the running clubs who participated as well as to all the other runners and walkers. Dún Uladh gave us the use of their excellent facilities and we had a team of workers who made good use of them to provide tea, food and refreshments for participants and stewards. They catered for just over 500 but could as easily have fed 5,000. Well done and well done also to our stewards who looked after the car park and the route and a big thank you to Eddie McCrystal and his team and to Dr Ryan McAleer who willingly gave their time to look after any First Aid issues. We must acknowledge the very generous assistance provided by our main sponsors, Strathroy and O’Neills, as well as all our other sponsors – Culmore Diner; Custom Cabinets; Floors Direct; O’Neill’s Financial Services; DIMAC Pitch Maintenance; Slieve na Mon Nursing Home; McElholm and Co. Chartered Accountants; O’Kane Bros Chartered Surveyors and Estate Agents; Signal Signs; McKenna, Sweeney McKeown (MSM) Solicitors; John Wallace and Supervalu; PRO; Meenan Builders; Gortrush Trading – The Ice Cream People.  Their generosity helped the success of the event as did those who put so much effort into organising and looking after it. We are grateful to the local media for the coverage. Last, but definitely not least, a sincere thanks to those who competed and those who took part and entered in to the spirit of it. Hopefully we will do it all over again in 2013.
The icing on Saturday’s cake was the winning of the two Senior League points with a hard fought but, well deserved, narrow victory over Ardboe. The Reserves also put in a determined effort and at the three quarter stage were still in contention. Ardboe extended their lead in the last quarter.
This Sunday we go to Kildress with the Reserve game at 5:30pm and the Seniors at 7:00pm.
Our Ladies came agonisingly close to victory in the Senior Championship but fell to Omagh St. Enda’s from a last minute goal.
We wish every success to Jimmy Carrigan and his big Cycle Event this Sunday to remember Gina and to raise finance for the Forget-me-not Fund. Jimmy is a strong club supporter, as was Gina, and we urge those who cannot participate to donate generously to the Fund.  Contact Jimmy on 07879414385.
Contact Gary Wallace 07708089130, regarding classes in the Cappagh Suite on Monday night, 6-7pm and 7-8pm and Friday 6-7pm.
Sincere sympathy to the family circles of the late Mickey Donaghy, ‘Vinto’ Kelly and Frank Devlin.
