CLUB NOTES: July 13th

Both Reserves and Seniors fell heavily to An Charraig Mhor last Wednesday. Our next action in the league will be 24th July.
A big thank you to all who took part in the Walk/Run for the Michaela Foundation Trust last Saturday and to those who acted as stewards and those who provided the refreshments. We will be making our financial return to the Trust Fund on 26th July. If you would like to make a donation please do so to any committee member or to our treasurer Niall McKenna. Units within the club or family groups and friends can still do their walk or run. Donations can be handed in at the Bingo on Monday 18th or Monday 25th, 8.30-10.30pm. We are grateful to Michael Ward and to his expertise and experience in planning the 5K and 10K routes and to Patrick McCrory for organising the event.
Well done to Anthony Connolly and Benny Monaghan who represented us so well at a function in Arás an Uachtaráin to promote a social initiative aimed at keeping our more mature members of society actively involved in the life of the community. This project was launched by Martin McAleese with the support of the President and they appealed especially to the GAA to help drive it forward. Anthony and Benny have been providing this community service for a number of years and were very worthy recipients of an invitation to meet the President. They enjoyed their day, met the President and mingled with famous hurling and football stars. In fact they enjoyed it so much that they just managed to catch a very late bus home.
Cappagh
The Summer Camp was very well attended last week and we thank those in the club who helped with the smooth running of it and the ladies who provided the tea. The coaches were excellent.
There will be a Development Camp from Tuesday to Thursday next week, 2.00-6.00pm, in Healy park for 12-15 year olds and costing £15.
The Hurling Summer Camp will be in Ballinamullan 1st – 4th August please register at the County Board Office. Our Under 12 footballers had a big day out in Longford last Saturday and enjoyed their own games as well as Tyrone’s victory.
Thank you to our coaches and to parents and guardians for their co operation.
The Minor Hurling League games was off due to a death in Strabane.
