CLUB NOTES: June 22nd

Our Reserves got last Friday night’s games off to a good start with a narrow but well earned win over Cookstown. The Senior game was a good game of open football with plenty of effort from both teams. We may have had a bit of good fortune with our goals but our spirit, determination and teamwork deserved a good result. In the end we were worthy winners of the 2 league points on a scoreline of 2gls 12pts to 2gls 8pts. Our next games will be on Wednesday 29th June. We wish Dermot Carlin, Martin Swift and the Tyrone team every success in the Ulster semi final on Sunday 26th June.
Well done to our Ladies on a well organised and very successful Night at the Races last Friday and we wish them all the best in the Tyrone Final this Sunday evening in Greencastle at 8.00pm. A big turn out of supporters will be appreciated.

The past pupils of Recarson rolled back the years with a well attended reunion last Saturday. Many of those in attendance were prominent in the revival of the GAA in our Parish in 1965 and have continued to give the club good support ever since.

The curtain raiser to the Ulster football semi final is Tyrone’s Under 21 hurling game with Donegal and we wish them all the best.

Cappagh
For many generations the day in June most talked about and most eagerly awaited was “the longest day – mid summer”. For some years now in our Parish it has been Donnelly Cup Day which is most eagerly awaited. For 2011 that will be Friday 24th June when the primary schools and their players and teachers will converge on Ballinamullan. Proceedings get under way at 10.00am and we are guaranteed a feast of good football, whole hearted effort and, above all, fun and enjoyment.

Usual coaching for the Under 8s, 10s and 12s. For the Under 12s there are the special games with the number of players per team and the number of substitutes to be used agreed by the two clubs. On Monday last we had Omagh at home and were away to Augher. The Go Games continue this Monday night in Carrickmore and at home to Clogher.

The Juvenile Football League gets under way on Thursday and Round 2 will be on Friday 1st July.

With the Tyrone Minors in action on Sunday 3rd July the League Quarter Finals cannot be slotted in until after that date.

Under 8/10/12 hurling coaching continues on Thursday evening from 6 – 7pm. This week Michael Glover, Ulster Council coach, will be in attendance. Well done to our U16 hurlers and coaches who completed in the County 9-a-side blitz last Thursday and our U12 hurlers who excelled at the Lisnaskea Community Festival Blitz on Friday evening. We host a County U10 hurling blitz in Ballinamullin this Saturday morning(25th)and any help would be appreciated. An U14 7-a-side hurling blitz is scheduled for Beragh on the 1st July with an U12 blitz also in Beragh on the 30th June.

Cappagh Ladies
All roads lead to Greencastle this coming Sunday for the Intermediate County Final when the girls in blue take on local rivals St Endas, this should be an entertaining game and all support would be appreciated.

Training for U16s will continue on Monday and Wednesday nights from 7-8pm. Training for U8’s to U10s take place on Tuesdays from 6-7pm and U12 from 7-8pm.  ‘A Night at the Races’ was a great success on Friday past and the girls would like to thank all those who helped organise the event and who supported the event. Good Luck to Kathryn, Steph P and Clodagh who are America bound and the club would like to take this opportunity to thank the girls for their commitment throughout the year and wish them the best of luck. Congratulations to Tyrone Senior Ladies on reaching the Ulster Final. Good Luck to Dermy, Marty and Tyrone Senior Men in the Ulster Semi-final on Sunday.
