Killyclogher               0-9
Aghyaran                   0-6
Our Senior’s ensured top flight Football for 2010 with a three point win over Aghyaran on Saturday in Drumquin. In a dogged and tense match Dermy Carlin got the first point of the game after three minutes with a now trade-mark burst into the forward line. Just a few moments later Brian Meenan was mightily unlucky to see his thunderous shot to goal rebound of the post. Leo Meenan then doubled our lead and was unfortunate not to push us further forward with a penalty that creeped inches wide. Aghyaran kept the pressure on us and equalised with a Shane Sweeney point and then went ahead with a Martin Penrose score. Damian and Leo then scored two unanswered  points to put us back in the lead. We then survived a fright when Mark O’Kane and Chrissy Donnelly combined magnificently to keep out a certain goal.  Damian then tagged on another point before half time.
After half time we got off to a flier; Brian and James Carlin firing over points. However, Aghyaran regrouped and brought our lead back to one point. In a tense second half we failed to score for 25 minutes. Thankfully, with only three minutes to go Damian fired over a free and Leo scored another one from play. The nervous second half was concluded with another goal line clearance involving Mark, Brian and Tiernan McCann ensuring a three point victory for the boys in blue.
So, another season concludes for the Men’s Senior Footballers; Division One football secured for next year and hopefully one step further to the Final in the Championship.
