Cappagh Ladies too strong in Brewster Park

In bracing yet perfect conditions at Brewster Park today, Cappagh ladies ran out winners in the first round Ulster Club Championship against Enniskillen Gaels.

Cappagh put in a powerful performance remaining comfortably in the lead throughout the game having Clodagh Poyntz opening the game with a well scored point from play in the first five minutes.
Enniskillen Gaels faced a massive blow when one of their strongest players, Terri Cassidy, was sent off with a straight red in the first half. The end of the first half saw Cappagh up 1-08 to 0-02 and a display of some talented performances from midfielder Tracy Wallace, half forward Grainne McGread and all ball being stopped going into Enniskillen Gaels forward line by Cappagh’s Naomi McAnulla.
Enniskillen Gaels tried their hardest to get back in the game with a superb point kicked by full forward Lynn McFredrick, however, Cappagh continued to sail through the second half finishing off on a score line of 4-16 to 1-02.
Cappagh’s forward line proved too strong for Enniskillen Gaels with the fast pace and outstanding play of Terri McCusker and Aisling Porter breaking through each time to score 1-04 each.
Cappagh will now face Donegal side, Malin, in the Ulster semi-finals THIS Saturday 10th October at Ballinamullan.
