The Senior hurlers were beaten by Castlewellan 2.9 to 1.8 on Friday evening. In a close game the teams started slowly with Cappagh slightly faster out of the blocks. Early points were exchanged in a low scoring first half but Cappagh lost a little composure and two quick goals for the Down men left the team with an uphill fight in the second half. The second half was close but Cappagh fought hard with Kevin Cunningham and Shane O’Neill defending hard. Then Cappagh got the lift they needed with Barry O’Neill’s great goal from 50m and strong play from midfield of Niall Burns and Donal McMullan. With the introduction of Ryan O’Neill and Paul Keys play lifted but the goal that was needed never came but for excellant goalkeeping by the opposition. Well done to all the boys and the management.
