Cappagh 2.5 Ardboe 1.10
Saturday past represented the end of a long league campaign for the U14 boys. The club and all its members should be extremely proud of this young men, who tried and tried to make it through to a second final of the year. Unfortunately, ‘the gods’ were against the team. A number of players were carrying injuries going into the game, the Ardboe team turning up late meant that our boys were on the field a full 30 minutes prior to throw-in – no big deal some would say, but, in temperatures registering at 25 degrees – this definitely had an impact. And to finish a really bad day, a superb save by the Ardboe goalkeeper, that ‘cross-bar’ and some really dreadful finishing meant that it wasn’t to be – however, we did hold Ardboe to their lowest score of the season.
There were some bright points, namely the fantastic performances of Adam Potts, Shane Leonard and Ruari Murray – well done boys.
