Entertaining the Masses

Our very own woo the crowd at Clones
Yesterday in the heat of the blazing sun our Scor Ballad group entertained upwards of 27,000 people before and during the First Round Senior Championship clash between Tyrone and Armagh. Aideen, Amanda, Michael, Ashley, and Paula did their parish, community and club proud on a day when the Red Hands proved too strong for the men from the Orchard County.

Coill an Chlochair Niamh Mhuire GAC is well known for its involvement in Scór over the years. To date the club holds All Ireland titles for Instrumental Music, Ceili Dancing and Novelty Act (2) at Senior level and for Ballad Group at Scór na nÓg level as recently as 2007 as well as a host of County and Ulster titles in most of the Scór disciplines.
The Senior Ballad Group here today is made up of sisters Aideen Daly and Amanda Donnelly, brother and sister Michael and Ashley Kelly and their cousin Paula Daly.
This is their first year performing together as a group and it is heartening to see these young people giving so freely of their time in order to promote our Irish culture – that section of the GAA that is very often overlooked!!
This year their commitment and dedication paid off when they won their county and provincial finals, against very tough opposition and went on to represent their club, county and province at the All Ireland Finals in Gleneagles, Killarney on 18th April. While the ultimate prize eluded them on this occasion we’ve no doubt this will not be the last we’ll hear of this very talented young group.
