Our U18 boys bridged a very big gap when they won the Minor Championship with a well-earned victory over Eglish. Club members and supporters enjoyed the triumph at a time of gloom in the club. The players also enjoyed the support of an enthusiastic crowd. That was on Saturday evening and the senior men went into action in the Championship on Sunday.
For a period in the first half it looked as if we could have a double weekend celebration but it was not to be. Coalisland got back on terms and gradually forged ahead. Our efforts to rein them in were thwarted when just the post and then the cross-bar stopped what looked like certain goals. Coalisland moved ahead to win a place in the semi-final. Our players and management were disappointed not just at losing but in not doing themselves justice on the day. That’s what makes it so disappointing. The players and management acknowledge the support they got on match-day and in the lead up to it. Next weekend, will see a return to league action with three games to play.
Our U16 boys play Eglish in the Championship on Saturday at 11:30am in Ballinamullan and are scheduled to play Donaghmore in the league quarter-final next Wednesday, 2nd October.
The U16 girls defeated Dromore on Sunday and they are at home to Sperrin Óg this Sunday.
