Keith Shiels Wins Killyclogher 10K

Runners and walkers arrived in huge numbers yesterday in Ballinamullan to take part in the annual 10K Road Race and 5K Fun Run and Walk.
Once again, with the support of the Enda Dolan Foundation, the crowds did not disappoint. At 11:00am the starting gun rang out and all registered entrants faced up to the challenge of the course. With the sun out and a slight breeze this provided a testing challenge for all participants.
First home was Keith Shiels (Foyle Valley) in a time of 32.21, followed closely by Chris McGuinness (Foyle Valley) in a time of 33.33. Adrian McGown (Foyle Valley) crossed the line in third place in a time of 34.50.

First Female across the line was Grace Carson (Mid Ulster AC) in a time of 40.41 followed by Paula Donnelly in a competitive time of 42.14.
The winner of the 5K event was Tristan Kelly in a time of 18.24. First female across the line was Lauren Molloy in a time of 23.20.
Each year our young athletes compete in the U16 age group for the honour of lifting the Enda Dolan Trophy, which was presented by the Dolan family in memory of their son Enda who performed and was a previous winner of this race category in this local event. This year the trophy was presented to a local runner Tristan Kelly.
The success of this event does not come without the support of a number of groups and individuals within our local community. The Killyclogher GAC club would like to thank our many sponsors in addition to local business, who provided their services to ensure the on-going success of this event.
In addition, the club wish to thank all those members who manned the water stations, marshalled the event, registered the runners, set up the course and managed the clear up.
With the hot conditions the runners all needed to replace their energies and this was ensured by our club members in hospitality who ensured that all the runners got teas, coffees, drinks and food after the race.
As health is our priority, the club wish to extend thanks to the Order of Malta and our own team of first aiders who were available for all patrons.
Finally, we would like to extend our thanks to all participants, family and friends from near or far who attended the event. You have contributed in making this event such a huge success.
