We had our first competitive game of 2018 last Saturday when we played Galbally in the U21 competition. Six teams are in the sectional league with each team playing each other once before moving to a knock-out stage with the other sectional winners. We are in a group with Galbally (A), An Charraig Mhór (H), Errigal Ciaran (H), Omagh (A) and Dromore (A). We can be satisfied with our good fighting performance last Saturday in very difficult weather conditions. This weekend we play An Charraig Mhór on Sunday in Ballinamullan at 12:30pm.
Coaching continues for the various codes and various age-groups.
Training for the U14 and U18 girls continues on a Monday night at 6:00pm in Youth Sport. With only a few weeks until the start of competitive action for the minor girls we would encourage all those eligible to play minor football to attend training. Training for the senior ladies panel commences this Friday evening with an indoor session in the Cappagh Suite from 6:30 to 7:30pm. Please bring trainers and water for the session. Congratulations to Ellie Mae Nugent and Laura Corcoran who have been selected for the Tyrone U14 panel for the season ahead. Training for U8 and U10 girls will commence this Saturday – more details will be available later in the week and will be posted on the club Facebook page and via a message to parents.
On Saturday last we had U10 handballers in action in Bracky, Carrickmore, Loughmacrory and Pomeroy. This weekend we wish our handball representatives all the best in the Ulster championships in Saval.
Also on Saturday morning last our U10 hurlers were in action in a county blitz in Omagh Leisure Centre. Underage hurling in the Parish Centre continues on Friday evening and on Saturday morning our U8 hurlers have a blitz in MUSA, Cookstown.
Sincere sympathy to the McGarvey and McAleer family circles on the death of Mrs Kathleen McGarvey.
Our club lost a good supporter of our fundraising and a regular bingo attender with the death of Mrs Bernie Colgan.
