Championship weekend didn’t prove successful for us with our senior footballers falling at the first hurdle in the defence of the O’Neill Cup and our senior hurlers defeated in the Shield Final.
On a positive note, our senior footballers brought us success over the last three years appearing in four league and championship finals and winning the Brendan Dolan Trophy and the O’Neill Cup in the process. They gave the whole Parish a boost and now will look to the whole Parish to give them the support to encourage a renewed effort for league and championship glory in 2018.
Our senior hurlers now know how much they have to do to return to the glory years. They will keep together over the Autumn and Winter and prepare for next year.
Our juvenile boys have outstanding games to play with Moortown in league, league play-off and championship. The first of these will be on Saturday.
The U16 girls were due to play Drumragh last night, Tuesday, but it was postponed due to the weather.
We wish Caitlin Kelly and the Tyrone Senior Ladies all the best in their All Ireland Final against Tipperary on Sunday week.
The U13 hurlers are looking forward to a special Ulster tournament based in Derry throughout the Sundays of October.
Sincere sympathy to the family circle of the late Partha Mandal and especially to his wife Fay and his daughter Naomi who are both actively involved with the ladies.
