U10 DUBLIN TRIP

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Over 40 children enjoyed a wonderful day in Dublin recently where they went on a tour of Croke Park accompanied by no less than our own 2 county stars, Dermot Carlin and Martin Swift, and then went on to play a series of challenge games v St Jude’s of Dublin.

Many thanks to Dermot and Martin, our club coaches and the superb hospitality of St Jude’s for giving up 12 hours of their Saturday to ensure the children had a trip to remember.

Who knows someday one of these will showing the next generation of Cappagh players around Croke Park the same way Dermot and Martin did.

Young footballers and hurlers got a tour of the stadium and then got to play on the hallowed turf in ‘Go games’ in the afternoon. A great day was had by all and the young lads said they would like to thank the Club and County Board for this opportunity.

Cumann na mBunscol Hurling

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

A joint team of Killyclogher St Mary’s and Recarson P7s represented Tyrone today (Thursday 15th April) in Belfast in the Cumann na mBunscol Uladh Indoor Hurling Championships after winning the Tyrone title a few weeks ago. Our boys got off to a great start, going into a two goal lead against St Patrick’s from Ballycastle, representing Co Antrim. Unfortunately, the boys went down to three late goals to Ballycastle, the eventual winners of the competition. We were then narrowly beaten by St Nura’s Tooban National School from the Burt area of Co Donegal. However, a great day was had by all and no doubt these boys will feature prominently in youth hurling in the Club in the years to come. Congratulations to the boys on being the first group from the Parish to win the Tyrone title. A special thanks must go out to the staff of St Mary’s Killyclogher and Recarson Primary Schools for their assistance in these events. Our boys were Michael Lench, Ruairi Winters, Jordan Barton, P.T. Cunningham, Cormac McGettigan, John Mc Gurk, Cian Mallon and Jacob Corry.
